Initially we focus on the 3 prime areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), since these are most essential for future learning and development. Ensuring that we promote early development centred around these 3 aspects allows for children to grow and learn at their own speed and in their own unique way. The 3 prime areas of development are:
- Communication and language.
- Physical development.
- Personal, social and emotional development.
Our team of highly qualified staff within the baby unit work closely with parents and as a team to provide activities and support, which are specially tailored to your child’s individual needs.
We use an app called Famly for sharing lots of information each day about what your child has been doing; including but not limited to:
- Their meals and how well they’ve eaten.
- Details of their naps.
- When they had their nappy changed and if it was wet or soiled.
- Sharing pictures and videos of them at play.
We’ve used the Famly app since 2017 and it is embedded seamlessly into our setting; ensuring that we are able to share lots of core information with our families as well as snapshots throughout the day. Our team are so competent and efficient with the software that doing this takes seconds; thus ensuring that time is not taken away from engaging, communicating and playing with our children.
Immersive creative play is really important for us at Sunshine. We know that it’s not always possible nor practical at home to allow your child to have access to activities which can, and usually do, get very messy. We appreciate and understand the powerful learning and development that these opportunities can provide, both in terms of how they allow children to become deeply immersed in their sensory play, but also in how it can promote co-operative play amongst children.
